Editorial -- November 2000

Well, it kinda looks like the Americans are showing their true colors lately: the global fools they have turned out to be. They can't even run a fair election, how can they possibly be thought to be global leaders? For that matter, who would want them? Surely not me. They are acting like two children fighting over a sucker, not representatives of one of the largest super-powers in the world. The whole thing is a joke anyway because, no matter how the people vote the Electoral College has the power to overturn the popular vote and put their own man in. Yet, America is supposed to be a Democracy? Sounds more like an old-time sub-dictatorship, where the many are controlled by the few.

It is time for all Americans to stand up and demand control of the vote, not the several lawyers that are chosen. This law is no better than some of the other archaic laws still on the books today, like “No dancing on Sundays” and, to paraphrase, “Oral sex in my own house is illegal.”

Isn't it about time we moved into the present and out of the Stone Age? I personally feel I can make a sound choice for who should be President. Let's disband the good old boys union and let the people run the country! Like the Constitution says, “…by the people, for the people…”

And while we're at it, let's move away from management-by-the-few, those who claim they think like the average person and know what you and I want. It should be the people who manage the country, not the special interest groups, big business, the Puritans or the Mormons.

It should be all the people, by the people, for the people.

Your feedback is always welcome and it will be posted here in Editorial.
